In the remote northern corners of the Siberian taiga, the Khanty and Nenets indigenous peoples have preserved their traditional lifestyle for centuries. Their daily struggles bear witness to their endurance and skill of surviving in one of the coldest regions of Asia. This region is also rich in oil, and the industry built around it encompasses ever increasing territories. For some, these territories are the sacred ancestral lands, while for others, they are yet another place to exploit.
