Contents Summary
"The Gypsy Baron” is a movie about settled Romani People in Soroca, a little town in the Republic of Moldova right at the Ukrainian border. The film accompanies Artur Cherrari, the real democratically elected Baron of all Roma of the Republic of Moldova and, thus, the head of the Roma in Soroca. It also follows Vale who may be the future Baron. The film investigates issues such as the position of the Roma in Europe, their Soviet past, the social structure they are forced to abide by, and the way they cope with everyday life.
