The materials in this series concentrate mainly on various aspects of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and its aftermath, covering such topics as foreign, both communist and Western, reactions to the Revolution and the then official interpretation of the "counter-revolution" and its material and mental damage inflicted on society. The most important part of the files deal with the possibilities of emigration, legal and illegal border crossing, repatriation, and the situation of immigrants in various recipient countries.
