Contents Summary
Khun Srun was a Cambodian writer who joined the Cambodian guerrillas in 1973, and was executed by the Khmer Rouge regime in 1978. This documentary showcases the context behind his works, both autobiographical and critical. Whilst it raises questions about his journey as an intellectual, his story resonates not only in the past; director, Eric Galmard introduces us to current reflections upon land speculation and corruption. It is therefore not only a question of reflecting upon history and the library of work by Srun, as we are introduced to Khun Khem, the daughter of Srun, who represents a new insight. She's the only surviving family member who now lives in the precarious state of Pailin, a former Khmer Rouge stronghold.
