Contents Summary
In Uruguay there are still many missing people who vanished during the dictatorship between 1973 and 1984 and were never found again. Maria Emilia Islas is one of them. She disappeared when she was 22 years old, together with her husband and her 18-month-old baby. Her mother Maria Esther Gatti, a school teacher, went on searching for her for 16 years. She finally finds her granddaughter in Buenos Aires, living with the family of an Argentinean military officer. Even after learning the truth about her origins, the 18-year old granddaughter chooses to continue living with the parents who adopted her by force when she was only a baby.
