The story of land occupation in La Chririza, Nicaragua in 2010. A year after their lands are taken, the now-homeless settlers must organize themselves and try to legalize their claim for property rights. They struggle with the creation of a new community, its forms of social organization and the daily struggle for a life free from want. “Takenland” introduces to us the settlers and their stories, their dreams and hopes, and as well as their relentless search for basic public goods like fresh water, electricity and education.
