Summary

After three years of campaigns protesting the racist laws of Nazi Germany and its policy resulting in the exclusion of Jewish sportsmen, the 'counter-games', the Popular Olympiads, are planned to be held in Barcelona from 20 July 1936. The day before, several thousand European athletes representing more than 23 countries travel to Barcelona but something unexpected happens.
