- After being raped, she could have lived in shame for the rest of her life - or committed suicide. However, Mukhtaran Mai decided to open a school for girls and provide young girls and exploited women with opportunities she had never been given. Five years later, the girls who earlier could have only learned the necessary household skills to become good obedient wives are now studying English and Math. The school is also a center where abused women can go to seek advice and comfort. A story of determination and vision in Pakistan.
