Scope and content (narrative)

In 1967, Mihály Csákó, along with several colleagues, applied for the task of renewing the teaching of Marxist philosophy. However, their proposal was openly labeled as a subversive attack on the state and a conspiracy, leading to their expulsion from the philosophy department to prevent further influence on the youth.

In 1979, Csákó signed the Charter (a political declaration published by the Czechoslovak opposition in 1977), which resulted in him receiving a verbal warning. Then, in 1980, he was removed from the Social Science Institute. From that point onward, he attended lectures organized by the Democratic Opposition's Flying University and distributed samizdat publications. The police conducted several searches at his residence and confiscated the publications they found.

The series includes publications from the Democratic Opposition, such as AB Hírmondó (AB Newsletter), AB Tájékoztató (AB Bulletin), Beszélő (Speaker), and a special issue of Beszélő titled "Társadalmi szerződés" (Social Contract), publications of ABC Független Kiadó (ABC Independent Publisher), as well as Magyar Füzetek (Hungarian Booklets), and Speaking from Elsewhere (Máshonnan Beszélő).

The series also contains other publications that either could not be published due to the authors being blacklisted, or were not allowed for publication due to their content. These include "A Monori Tanácskozás" (The Monor Meeting) from June 14-16, 1985, "A Monori Tanácskozás vitaindító előadásai és a hozzászólások" (The introductory lectures and comments from the Monor Meeting), publications from AB Független Kiadó (AB Independent Publisher), including "Magyar Írók Szövetsége: Jegyzőkönyv az 1956. december 28-án tartott taggyűlésről" (Minutes of the meeting held on December 28, 1956, by the Hungarian Writers' Association), István Bibó: “Emlékirat - Magyarország helyzete és a világhelyzet 1957" (Memorandum - The situation in Hungary and the world situation in 1957), Miklós Haraszti: “A cenzúra esztétikája" (The Aesthetics of Censorship), Havel, Václav: “Audiencia", "Kelet-Európa elnyomott munkásfelkelései: Solidarność" (Suppressed Workers' Uprisings in Eastern Europe: Solidarity), János Kenedi: “A magyar demokratikus ellenzék válsága" (The Crisis of the Hungarian Democratic Opposition), Zawodny, J.K.: “Halál az erdőben, a katyini mészárlás története" (Death in the Forest: The Story of the Katyn Massacre). It also includes lectures and lecture outlines by Miklós Szabó on the principles of liberalism.
