The Hungarian Military History Archive inherited the film collection of the Hungarian Workers Militia. In exchange for a complete set of VHS copies the Open Society Archives transformatted these films from celluloid and U-matic onto Beta and VHS.

Scope and content (abstract)

Over 170 documentary and propaganda films; also news, training, cultural and sports programs relating to the history of the Hungarian Workers Militia. Some of the highlights of this acquisition include an interview with János Kádár (1984); a program about "The 25th Anniversary of the Workers' Militia" (1982); a German documentary about the East-German Workers' Militia ("We, the Fighting Comrades", 1975) and a report about the every-day lives of the workers' militia members in Százhalombatta "Base on the Danube" (1977).
