Scope and content (narrative)
Atlantic Research and Publication Ltd. (ARP) as a research center brought together the scholars of Central and East European history by organizing international interdisciplinary conferences on the key issue of Society in Change in general and on War and Society in East Central Europe between the mid eighteenth century and the present in particular. These conferences provided the opportunity to researchers of the East Central European socialist countries to present their findings in an appealing environment away from their own isolated academic surroundings and meet Western colleagues with similar interests. With the help of Brooklyn College, ARP organized and conducted twenty-four international conferences between 1974 and 1989. The most important European conference cities were: Thessaloniki (Greece), Pécs (Hungary), Baden-Vienna (Austria), Bellagio (Italy), Paris (France).
