The black and white prints of RFE/RL were donated to OSA by the Hoover Institute, California in year 2015. The images are duplicates of those held at Hoover. The originals, and most probably the negatives are with the donor as well. OSA only received the paper prints with captions, and digitized the entire collection in year 2018.

ORIGINAL CAPTION: For release on Wednesday, July 3 Freedom Foundation's medal awarded to Radio Free Europe W.J. Convery Egan, Director of Radio Free Europe, has received a George Washington Medal from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge. The award was presented to Mr. Egan with the following citation for Radio Free Europe: "For its broadcasts to captive peoples behind the Iron Curtain, carrying in their own languages the truths and principles upon which American freedom rests, and reaching their hearts with messages of faith and hope." Radio Free Europe, which is supported by American contributions to the Crusade for Freedom, starts its eighth year of broadcasting to the captive peoples of East Europe tomorrow (July 4). Programs are now on air 20-hours-a-day, over 29 powerful RFE transmitters, to Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania.
