Scope and Content (Abstract)
The third series contains the documents on the grants Atlantic Research and Publication Ltd. (ARP) provided to several Hungarian historians and members of the democratic opposition (including Gabor Demszky, Viktor Orban, Janos Kis, Ignac Romsics) to research or demonstrate their contribution to the change of régime in Hungary.
Scope and Content (Narrative)
Atlantic Research and Publication Ltd. (ARP) was one of the institutions that organized research trips to the US for Hungarian thinkers and politicians throughout the second half of the 1980s, including János Kis, Ferenc Kőszeg, Gábor Demszky, Tibor Liska, Bálint Nagy, and other prominent figures of the Hungarian opposition. In this project ARP cooperated closely with the Open Society Fund/Soros Foundation, and the Hungarian émigré circles in France, notably with Péter Kende and László Rajk. In this way ARP also gave logistical and financial support for Hungarian samizdat publishers. ARP helped make English language manuscripts, historical documents available that were censored by the regime in Hungary – most importantly a collection of essays by István Bibó.
The highlight of the series is the grant folders of Gabor Demszky, Tibor Liska and Viktor Orban. Peter Pastor’s grant related correspondence is in chronological order.

A harmadik sorozat az Atlantic Research and Publication Ltd. (ARP) által osztott ösztöndíjakhoz kapcsolódó iratokat tartalmazza, melyeket magyarországi történészek és a rendszerváltás környékén ellenzéki politikusok kaptak (többek közt: Demszky Gábor, Kis János, Orbán Viktor, Romsics Ignác), hogy kutassanak az Egyesült Államokban vagy bemutathassák a hazai eredményeiket.
Tárgy és tartalom (Narratív)
Az 1980-as évek második felétől az Atlantic Research and Publication Ltd. (ARP) bekerült azon intézmények közé, amely szerteágazó tevékenysége mellett a magyar kutatóknak és politikusok az Egyesült Államokban történő munkáját támogatta ösztöndíjak formájában. Demszky Gábor, Kis János, Kőszeg Ferenc, Liska Tibor, Nagy Bálint és a magyar ellenzéki mozgalom más prominens képviselői kaptak lehetőséget. Ebben a tevékenységében szoros együttműködést ápolt a Nyílt Társadalom/Soros Alapítvánnyal (OSF), és a francia emigráns körökkel, Kende Péterrel és Rajk Lászlóval. Ily módon az ARP a magyar szamizdat logisztikai és financiális hátterét is nagymértékben támogatta. Az ARP tevékenységének köszönhetően elérhetővé váltak olyan angol nyelvű kéziratok és történelmi munkák, melyek a magyar rendszerben a cenzúra miatt nem jelenhettek meg – melyek közül talán legfontosabbként a Bibó István írásainak gyűjteményét említhetjük.
A sorozat kiemelt dossziéi Demszky Gábor, Liska Tibor és Orbán Viktor ösztöndíjaihoz kapcsolódó dokumentumokat tartalmazzák, míg Pásztor Péter témához kapcsolódó levelezése kronologikus sorrendben lelhető föl.
