Scope and content (narrative)
Since the exhibition entitled Art of the Unofficial organized in cooperation with Kunsthalle in the freshly opened Galeria of the Archives in 1997, our public program series has grown to about 50 events a year. The decision to open Galeria Centralis was based on the idea that in a country/ region riddled with unspoken, unreflected historical traumas and grand scale events, a need for public discussion is a must. The somewhat idealistic decision was made that the Archives will turn its content and holdings inside out by organizing historical exhibitions based on our holdings relating to the recent past and Cold War in order to reach out to lay audiences outside the research body of the Academia and generate discussions. The present subfonds contains materials related to public events organized or hosted by the Blinken OSA Archives, mostly in the Galeria Centralis. One series of the subfonds contains the audiovisual recordings of the public events including exhibitions, public lectures, book launches and conferences. Recording, editing and archiving was carried out by the staff of the archives. The subunits of the collection are constantly growing as new events are organized.
