In 1992, RFE/RL Research Institute introduced a new weekly publication, the RFE/ RL Research Report, to replace both the Report on the USSR and Report on Eastern Europe.
The RFE/ RL Research Report was roughly the size of the two current weekly publications combined. It continued to provide topical analyses of political, economic, security, and social developments in the area extending from the Baltic to the Balkans, and from the Oder to the Pacific.
